At the age of 1 my boy loved the little cars you can pull on a string behind you. He loved books, any toys that involve putting balls in holes, a little tikes car, a water/sand table and a little plastic baby pool. Hope this helps! (Other stuff like magentiles didn't interest him and still don't!)
All kids love that car but a play kitchen is a big hit, probably want some sort of bike, play couch, trampoline which we wish we got cuz he likes jumping now or tries to, picasso tiles, writing pad if you don't want to use paper constantly then just small things like trucks and sound vehicles, cars (for boys of course) shape sorter, the vtech motorbike is a hit with kids esp as they get older, mega blocks, the pounding thing, we have a truck that has balls u push into it and it falls into the trailer part and he loves that whenever I bring it out after a while and oh anything where u have to put something like wooden blocks into pegs oh and the cocomelon bus my kid loves for the song of course, wooden puzzles Just some stuff you will probably want as exposure before 2nd bday and not necessarily use right away. I even asked for some alphabet stuff but that was because first bday is bigger than all others so wanted to get stuff we would actually need even if it's not going to get used yet
