Feeding session

How long do you feed solids to tiir little one? My girl is 7 months and doesn’t like to war. I spend 30 minutes to an hour to feed her each meal with no actual success! Is it too long?

We’re on purées/mashed food only still as my little one isn’t sitting up steadily yet. he will gobble up whatever is on offer within 10mins. Sometimes less he cries if I’m too slo with the spoon

My LO feeds himself. He has finger foods and/or bitesize pieces in a bowl with a spoon. I let him do it himself unless he's getting frustrated. I will happily sit there for an hour if needed. We eat the same food at the same time so we sit at the dining table together eating

Thanks! My little one hasn’t got her first tooth yet so mostly purée or lumpy soft bits. She is on 3 meals. Porridge, lunch and purée in the evening

Even without teeth they’re able to have finger food. You’d be surprised how hard the gums are. We have no teeth yet and he’s had fish, roast chicken and omelettes. My niece didn’t get her first tooth until 15 months old 😅

As Sophie said, they'll don't need teeth to bite/chew. My lo didn't have any teeth when we started, he now has his 2 lower teeth.

As long as it takes 🤷🏽‍♀️ It’s about the offering at this stage mainly and giving them time to explore and try things. I give a certain portion size with a cup of water and only stop and say “we’re finished” when she starts pushing things away or instantly dropping them without them going near her mouth.

Once she starts acting uninterested, looking away, throwing the food onto the floor etc I stop and take it away. Regularly takes 30-60 minutes. The first time I gave her finger food it took 20 minutes for her to actually pick it up and put it near her mouth 😅
