Dropping food… again!

My daughter is throwing handfuls of her food onto the floor at the moment. My mum was with us for tea tonight and couldn’t believe I didn’t tell her off for it. But I thought we should just ignore it at this age? I’m not sure I want to tell her off as I really want her to enjoy being in her highchair and mealtimes. So at the moment I just completely ignore the food throwing. Am I doing wrong and causing bad behaviour?

Key thing is to keep meal times relaxed and stress free so all you could say is something like, “balls are for throwing, food is for eating” in a calm tone

@Abby thank you 🙏

It’s annoying but they don’t understand what they’re doing yet I don’t think. I just say no that’s not what food is for/ that’s not what we do with food. Or try and encourage him to drop it into my hand instead of he doesn’t want it or guide his hand down to the plate to put it back

my little one is the same..and we had some friends over last week, we all had dinner and one of my friend she was saying the same thing..to tell him no and to remove the food from him..i don’t do that..he barely eats and if he want to splash with hands in the soup..so be it..at this point.. i personally don’t think they understand now..they just discover and explore..
