Is it concerning that my child isn’t interested in solids?

my fresh 7 month old still only takes formula. I’ve tried introducing solids many different times, from puree to blw (giving her bits of food for sensory play) but she just has this look of disgust on her face every time. is that normal? at what time should I call for early intervention with the pediatrician if she’s not eating any solid food?

I have this same thing with my 6.5 month old.he always makes a disgust face with solids. I’ve tried purées and blw. He seems to like blw more but still not that interested. I really think it’s ok but I’ve been anxious about it too. Solidarity. Idk what to do really except to keep trying and even if he just plays with the food that’ll help him to learn.

Food before 1 is just for fun! Keep trying a variety of tastes and textures, but breastmilk and/or formula will be their primary source of nutrition until 12months. As long is baby is growing on pace, she’s likely fine!

Hey mama food before one is generally for fun as they’re still getting all their nutrients from breastmilk or formula. During this period may not show interest in solids and that’s normal. I think it’s helpful to offer multiple things and also not having an expectation of your baby to eat it. The goal is by age 1 they’re eating 3 meals a day and snacks.

@Erica @Fanesheana thank you guys so much! she is hitting most if not all her milestones just a little sad watching everyone else’s littles having a blast with food and she isn’t. she does know how to drink from a straw tho! she loves it

It's totally normal. The face is not a "disgust" face, it's literally just them experiencing something unfamiliar that they may have never experienced before. My daughter did it constantly even with fruits and umami foods, but she would still open her mouth to eat. Solids is a marathon, not a sprint. They aren't going to take to it in a month or two, just be patient and go at their pace. That's what "baby-led" means, after all!
