Solids and milk

How many meals is your baby on now? And what’s your routine with milk? I want to offer a third meal now but I’m struggling with the milk to solid balance and feel like he’s having too much milk

We are at meals per day. Quantity of food depends on how much milk my LO will drink during the day. There are days that she wants to eat more or days that she wants to drink more. I am just going with the flow 😂

There's no such thing as too much milk at this age, food is meant to supplement milk before age 1, not the other way around.

@Emmo , I don't want to contradict what you are saying, but our pediatrician told us 100% different stuff. Weaning is meant to do exactly that, substitute milk with food (gradually obviously). Around 10-11 months, there should be 3 full meals. Milk will, of course, still be a very important part of the child's nutricion, but they should have moved to mostly eating food. Again, that's what our pediatrician told us.

@Emmo , as I said, that is what the pediatrician told us. NHS itself though still says that they should gradually move to 3 meals a day. https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/baby/weaning/what-to-feed-your-baby/7-to-9-months/

@Mantha gradually moving to 3 meals does not mean purposely limiting their milk intake

@Emmo It surely doesn't mean purposely giving them less food in order to give them more milk. As I understand it, yes, you gradually substitute milk with food. Again, I'm not trying to convince anyone. But I will stick with my doctor's advice as this works for my baby.

@Emmo - the HV said we should be dropping some milk now that he is having more solid foods 🤷🏻‍♀️
