Ella’s Kitchen pouch

My 7 month old is on two, sometimes three meals a day. Usually breakfast & dinner. I give her half a pouch of Ella’s kitchen for dinner. How much are others giving their babes? I don’t want to give too much so she still drinks her milk which usually hovers around 600-700ml a day (I only get that much in her because of a night feed - she isn’t that interested in her milk).

The rule of thumb is one pouch equals one meal, if you only give her half a pouch she is only getting half a meal ☺️

I have no idea if I'm doing it right but my LO is usually having about 100g to 120g of mashed/pureed food/jars/pouches for dinner, so typically a whole pouch. I started giving her the whole pouch because I read on the back of one of them it says one portion is one pouch. Breakfast is usually smaller, a little bit of porridge and fruit, or if I give her toast then there's barely any intake, but then however much she eats doesn't seem to affect how much milk she drinks

I don't feed my child pouches but I give him whatever we are eating just on a smaller scale and he eats it all plus a fruit and a yogurt and still has the same amount of feeds per day as he is ebf. He has 3 meals a day plus snacks plus his about 6-7 feeds per day including night feeds

@Elizabeth Aneiros just worry about spoiling her milk intake. She has 4 bottles in 24 hours (just doesn’t seem interested - more keen on solids so sometimes I really struggle to get her to finish a bottle). Will try a full pouch tonight & see what happens.

How long are you leaving it between solids and bottles?

@Elizabeth Aneiros night feed anytime between 11 and 2am (200ml volume) 8am bottle (anywhere between 120 and 150ml taken) 9.30 breakfast - oats / weetabix with fruit & cows milk 12pm bottle (150-200ml) 3/4pm solids (half a pouch or Heinz jar) 5.30pm (240ml bottle guzzled) Bedtime 6pm She usually goes to bed quite early hence her last bottle is around 5 and wake up isn’t a set time.

Seems spaced out just fine, maybe she's just interested in having more solids. My first was like that he was more interested in food than milk and he dropped bottles fast

@Elizabeth Aneiros yeah that’s what I’m thinking. She literally cries watching her brother eat his dinner 😵‍💫😂 I just worry so much she isn’t having enough milk in her bottles

It says online that babies that are 7 months drink around 3-5 bottles a day so 24-32 Oz of milk and they start moving towards 3 meals a day. If you are concerned in any way speak to your health visitor

It sounds like you should try giving her more solids, especially if she wants it and is being denied it. Half a pouch or jar isn’t enough, as she’s clearly signalling to you. A baby having more solids also doesn’t always equal to them having less milk. Babies are intuitive eaters, you should follow her lead and see how she gets on. If you’re unsure book a visit from the HV but up her food intake in the meantime.

After 6months the NHS says you can give 150ml of diluted fruit juice which I give my daughter 2oz at lunch and 3oz at dinner just because she only likes her milk at breakfast and bedtime maybe she is more thirsty for milk than hungry for it?

@Aggs thank you! Maybe I’ve been unintentionally starving my baby - oops! 😂😂😂I’ll give her more solids and see what happens with her milk intake

It can honestly be so stressful 😅 we just want the best for our babies, but it did get easier for me the more I learnt about biological norms. I hope your little one responds well to it. Good luck!
