BLW advice

My LO is 10 months (starting nursery next month) and always had a combo of purées and BLW from 6-8.5 months. then she started taking massive bites, shoving lots in and struggling to break it down (I know this is normal for that age), but she would panic very quickly and then I couldn’t get her to copy me spitting food out as she was so panicked. So following the solid starts app advice for preparing, we have everything in tiny little bite size pieces or mashed. For the most part I let her eat with her hands and explore spoons, but I also spoon feed her if we’re in a rush or eating out. This makes me comfortable as I know she can deal with it. But I really want her to be confident in eating bigger pieces before nursery. How does your 10 month old eat the likes of toast, banana, sweetcorn, cucumber etc?

My baby is 9.5 months and has started doing this too, so I now cut her food up into smaller pieces, so if she does shove it all in then it's easy for her to manage! I just supervise her tbh x

As soon as little one has the pincher grasp, you can cut things up small. Nursery will also adapt the food based on need. I let them know how she eats best and they do that for her.

Thank you both!

make sure u know basic infant cpr just in case one day she does choke so u are prepared. all teachers at daycare are cpr certified so we don’t really worry if a child is shoving so much food in there because our entire team is confident in helping a choking child. hopefully u never have to use it but it is a good thing to know especially if ur fear is choking!!
