I gave my kid anything that was soft enough to squish between my fingers. Kept filtering foods like this until I was confident she could and would chew the tougher foods.
Don't be fooled by social media, you don't have to give your baby full blown meals at 9 months old. Mine just got distressed and overwhelmed at that age if I gave her more than 2 foods at a time. They aren't going to miss out because you didn't give them an entire pork chop to gnaw on.
Anything you can squish will be fine for them or anything you can mash with a fork or you could blend the food to a softer consistency and gradually get lumpier/thicker as he’s more able to eat it. It depends on the baby really. My older girls were awful with food and barely ate anything. My son has always loved it and was on 3 meals quite quickly (pretty much whatever we were all eating) as he was always hungry so let him set the pace but served to what he could handle plus babies gums are harder than we think even if no teeth!
Babies don't need teeth, have you not felt them bite down on your finger or nipples with their gums? Their jaws are very strong and if the food is soft enough for you to squish with your finger then they can chew it.
I give my 7mo variations of a couple of foods im eating..pieces of steak to suck on, scrambled egg, orange wedges, avocado, watermelon, Yoghurt, cucumber, chicken drumsticks. Just to have him try different flavours and textures but he's ebf so im not worried about full meals at this stage.
The free version of the solid starts app is good
I did blw with my kid and he's done fine with full meals. He started baby cereals at just before 4 months (with drs ok), purees at 5 months, and actual solids around 6 months. He started replacing bottle feedings one at a time with solids around 8 months, was down to 2 formula feedings and a whole milk feeding by 10 months, and has been weaned completely by just after 12 months. At 15 months now he has 3 servings of whole milk a day, and eats like a champ. He's always been interested in food and eager to eat, and has never had any issue. But also kids all develope differently. Don't push your kid into something they're not ready for but don't let you not being ready hold them back. Let them push their own limits (within the safety of supervision of course), and find out what they're ready for, they just may suprise you
They don’t need teeth - mine didn’t get any until about 1 year but he was having proper food from 6 months (we didn’t do any purées)
@Tagmayne did blow 🤣
@Emmo god damn autocorrect lol. Fixed it
I never did BLW with my boys (15 & 11) however with my 9.5 month old we did it from 6 months and it's the best thing ever! She eats so much now, I barely give her anything pureed and hardly any jars or pouches, as I want her to get used to real food and real tastes
Oh my LB eats! He eats like a bloody trooper that's what worries me.,.Re BLW they say that baby will stop when they have had enough....No!!! He definitely won't!!!!!! He is a DUSTBIN!!! LOL X
As long as he's getting enough milk and not eating so much he's being sick I don't think that's a problem
I never did BLW with my first, but did let my second eat stuff like yogurt, mashed potatoes, beans…at least real foods that are soft enough to chew up with limited teeth. You don’t have to do BLW if you just wanna give purées.
