Adapting Meals

When people say their baby eats what they're eating can you give me some examples? My baby will eat finger foods and what I'd call meals but it's always something different to what me and my husband eat as I don't feel our dinners can be adapted with the exception of one or two things so looking for ideas.

I've done everything no salt but some examples are coconut curry and rice, spaghetti bolagnese, leek and mushroom pie, roast dinner, hummus and pitta, spinach and cheese in filo, shepherd's pie x

As Rachel said literally whatever we’re having with the exception of something like pizza or fish fingers…. Then he’ll have something I’ve pre made and frozen

Our daughter eats pretty much everything we eat. So this week it was moussaka , a marry me chicken pasta bake thing, a filo pastry thing with harrisa and butternut squash, vegetable Korean pancakes. I do cook with salt but limit it using no salt stock cubes, reduced sale soya sauce etc. Most of it she just eats with her fingers or I mush it up… and she also eats it with her fingers. Think a lot of it is a confidence thing as this is my second so much much more relaxed.

Thanks this is really helpful. A lot of stuff he has for lunch I eat too but it nevers feels enough for dinner for me and my husband so wanted to start getting some ideas of what to do. I need to start introducing more meat.

We try do same I use no salt stock, I mainly cook from scratch anyway so not bad, sometimes I will freeze left over incase we decide to have an unhealthy tea

My LO has exactly the same as me. Not blended, not mushed, just the same except a smaller portion. Tonight, we had meatballs and pasta in a tomato sauce, followed by mango, melon, and pineapple pieces. I have yet to make anything he doesn't like. He's had all the allergen foods I think now and has learnt to chew fully, so no more gagging. I think I've been lucky with food but then his name means food in Maori. The only rules for babies are: No shark No swordfish No honey Avoid added salt or sugar (but reduced salt stocks are ok)
