Also try to make it fun and entertaining..like a choo choo train lol
Keep offering solids three times a day, baby led weaning style. You need to be eating at the same time and modeling what he should be doing. Do not force him to eat. Everybody eats eventually, my first daughter didn’t start eating until about one year-old. But if you try to force food on him, he might end up with aversions or picky eating. If you’re concerned, talk to your pediatrician and they might refer you to an occupational therapist. But do not force him. Eating is really just practice until they are about year old, then it becomes their main source of nutrition. Babies are all different, they do things at their own pace. Good luck!
Don’t stress it he’s probably it interested remember, food before one is just for fun
So, if trying to give him purées on spoon, I shouldn’t feed him to allow him to taste it? If so, I’ve been doing this wrong
What about a thick puree like add baby oatmeal to his food? Or mashed avocado?
Dies he play with the food with his hands? That's a start of eating. It helps with them getting to know the food, texture, and flavor as the baby then puts their hands in their mouth. Good luck!
Right now, the point is to get them familiar with bringing food to their mouth. Same with water. Introducing a variety of textures and flavors. Put that thing in a diaper and let them play!
You can encourage them to use the pincer grasp with certain foods. They do not need this to be ready to eat. Also, eat with your baby! Try not to give them food and then walk away. Give the baby some of what you're eating and eat together. There's a social aspect until they realize food satiates hunger.
Also, baby does not have to sit without support. They need to sit with minimal support. A highchair with straps is fine.
I second the mesh fruit feeder that Mariana suggested. Both my kids started on that..you can put in fruit and also any "ice cube" food. So you can freeze breast milk, yogurt, purees.
In the same boat. My son is 8 months + 1 week. He puts everything in his mouth except food. If I feed it to him, he makes a stink face. I’ve been told to just keep trying and that it will eventually stick 😩
