This site is very helpful for finding all types of doctors & therapists that are actually within network if you’ve got any type of insurance (: https://www.zocdoc.com
I would run. Maybe you can try an integrative dr? They will definitely try a better approach
It’s common for iron to get lower in pregnancy. I’ve been anemic during all 4 of mine. I’ve taken many different things for it - including prescription iron before I knew better. Most recently I took beef liver capsules. I also took floradix, ferritin, and liquid chlorophyll. Blood builder is also a good supplement. Take any iron with vitamin c to help absorption. I would seek a new doctor for sure. Typically DO are better and more holistic than MD but not always.
I actually had the same issue with my doctor. I have a thyroid condition as well and I refused any medication for it and just made sure to take my one a day advanced prenatal pills and took iron pills my entire pregnancy and my baby was completely fine. They really try to scare you into doing it. But my doctor also told me that during pregnancy the thyroid condition usually sorts itself out because of the hormones. So I was like… then why try to push pills so hard? But I realized they have to. Doctors are pressured to push pills.
Having really bad thyroid levels can be very bad for you and your baby. Yes you can deal with it with diet and exercise and stuff like that dairy free gluten free. But if it’s super bad you need medication. Mine is very bad I need medication until I can get it more under control. But right now it’s not even with gluten free. If your levels are normal then maybe start eating more iron rich things without the iron meds. But you don’t need more thyroid if you’re are normal. And if your thyroid already aren’t super bad then you could maybe get off of it by being gluten and dairy free. But if you’re on a higher dosage of medication then I wouldn’t get off of it. But it wouldn’t be good. Women have miscarriages and not be able to get pregnant sometimes if thyroid levels are super off
My general suggestion would be to seek out primary care doctors who hold a “D.O” instead of a “M.D” https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/difference-between-md-and-do
