Interested in food

Anyone else’s baby seem so interested in food? My girl will literally act so mad when she sees us eating! She even ripped a cracker out of my hand lol (didn’t eat it). Like come on girlfriend you have to wait a little longer.

Yes! Food and my coffee. Some babies that show interest can already start solids with pediatrician clearance. I did give her a banana to try and she loved it! Looking for sippy cups to buy breastmilk in so she can participate in morning coffees

Same here! I have given her little pinky tips worth of things here and there to try and she gets so excited to be included. It’s to the point where she gets fussy if she sees me eating and can’t have some 😅

Yes my daughter is locked in on food lol she’s sooooo intrigued

My son is 18 weeks and he's been eyeing our food forever 😂 Our ped gave us the go ahead at his 4 month appointment to start solids so he's had some avocado and some carrots and he absolutely demolished them.

My girl eyeballs my food every time I sit down to eat. It makes me feel so guilty. I just always tell her, "not much longer, sweet girl." Lol.

It’s not advised to start solids at 4 months by the AAP. One main reason is that the gagging reflex isn’t fully developed. But additionally, their digestive system isn’t ready and the risk for obesity is higher when starting solids before 6 months. Just something to think about.

@Lena the evidence for obesity risk is inconclusive, some studies found links and others did not. Lifestyle plays a bigger role. As an anecdote, I was started on solids and cows milk from the family cow at 3 months (small village in Ukraine when my mom's milk suddenly dried up, with no access to formula or resources). I have no stomach issues and have never had issues with weight. Obviously a small sample size, just sharing.

@Lena My son started at 5 months and is doing just fine. He is very skinny lol. I did not say I was starting my daughter on solids, just that she is acting like she wants it.

5-6 months is recommended

@Tanya anecdotes aren’t evidence 😉 the AAP advises against solids at 4 months for multiple reasons, one of them is potential increased risk for obesity. The underdeveloped GI system or gag reflex are more important. People can do whatever they want but it’s important to know what’s recommended any why.

@Lena yes that's why I said "as an anecdote" and not "for a fact"
