@Kat that's what I was worried about too. She worked in an optometrist office for years and has a great deal of experience there with terminology, so I told her maybe she can try looking into that, but I think medical transcription is broader than just optometry/one field of medicine and usually they want at least 3 years experience for med transcription
Ahh she may have better luck with more specialized stuff. I’d still apply if I were her. My sister’s been working remote since 2016. She keeps getting fired because of kids in the background but somehow she just finds another remote job. 🤷♀️ They’re all in customer service though. It’s hard to be a mom these days, working or SAHM. The system is not designed for us.
I work from home, I work for the Council.
What is she good at or have experience in? Does she not care and only want remote? Does pay range or company mission matter? I work from home One of my children is in school until 3 and the other is home with me all day And I juggle between two jobs… and starting a new business One of my roles is development and I do a lot of prospecting (which is really just a lot of researching and data entry) and the other one is community organizing where I do have to be in meetings but they enjoy my daughter being on the calls with them
How old is her son? As a wfh mom with a kid on the spectrum as well, she’d have to find an extremely flexible job. My son is in school part of the day and home with me the rest but my job doesn’t require me to be on the phone much.
There’s a lot of “hybrid” jobs in social services. Some positions offer 2 or three days from home while the other require you to be in the office or completing field work. While it’s not entirely remote it’s a suggestion
I hit transcription but I meant to press wish I knew. You’d have better luck with something in customer service phone call jobs I think. Or starting your own business. I think transcription is a packed industry. You have to work for a company and pay them a percentage usually and then take whatever jobs are available. If you’re new they’ll be cheaper jobs because you have less experience. I’m sure there’s money it at some point but do you have the time to get there?
