@Audrey thanks so much for sharing your experience xxx Really reassuring, just worried about the baby too x
If you have antibiotics during labour, baby will be absolutely fine, don't worry! x
Strep b is super common. It also comes and goes throughout your life time/pregnancy so you might have tested positive at that swab but if you were tested again in a few weeks you could be negative! I was positive at one swab in my first pregnancy so had antibiotics during labour and my baby was totally fine. This pregnancy I’ve had a couple of swabs and they’ve been negative but because I had it in my first pregnancy they will still give me antibiotics this time.
I had GBS too and had a normal birth. This is really common, don't worry. My baby is healthy, there is no GBS. They give you antibiotics every 3 or 4 hours and you don't feel any pain. Stress is more harmful than GBS, so stay positive xx
I had it at around 10 weeks of pregnancy, haven’t since but will still need the IV antibiotics. I’m having an elective c section anyway but it is super common from what my midwife was saying and baby should be fine once they hook you up! Just think of the safety of the baby x
I had Strep B and my baby boy is now 7 months and completely healthy. Once my waters broke I went straight to hospital and I was put straight onto a drip. Honestly the drip is the last thing on your mind when you’re In Labour ☺️ I worried the same as you ladies are now but please do not worry it is so so common and your baby will be absolutely fine ❤️
I had it too and really wanted a natural birth. I was gutted to have to need an IV but I had the most wonderful experience, I chose how I wanted to deliver baby etc. Try not to worry too much, it doesn't mean you can't move around etc, you can give birth in a birth centre if that's your wish, no pb!
