I am very apprehensive with vaccines and what to take and what not, but these two are quite important and ai will be taking them. I’ve read some horror stories what it does to newborns so please do get your baby protected:) hope it all goes well
I never got any vaccines and I never got sick and baby has only been sick once because he was around his 3 yr old cousin who was sick and he caught it, otherwise no sickness at all! We do keep very clean though and wash hands always
I am not super serious about vaccines, I never had a covid jab (and also have never had covid), never had the flu jab even though they were recommended. Whooping cough I did have though. Cases are on the rise because of people not having it and in my area whilst pregnant several babies had died so that wasn’t a risk I was willing to take. It doesn’t matter how ‘clean’ you are, they could even catch it in hospital. The maternity grant you can apply for at 29 weeks, your due date isn’t relevant. I have issues with my back following a car accident so I bought a pregnancy band. I used it twice. I found it just made me really hot and didn’t actually help with anything.
I got a belly band on Vinted for £1, most people only use for a few weeks so still in good condition!
The whooping cough vaccine is for the baby not for you, so please have this, as whooping cough can be very nasty, and fatal!
Not sure about the maternity grant sorry! But the whooping cough vaccination I have had both pregnancies and didn’t get any symptoms whatsoever. Not to be that person, but it really is really important for baby to make sure you get it as whooping cough can be really bad if they get it! And it’s a hard no (personally) for the maternity band, I had sciatica and pelvic girdle pain and it did nothing apart from make me feel really uncomfortable 😂 hope this helps x
I had the whooping cough jab and I just had a sore ish arm for 24 hours and no other side affects. I have in the past reacted to flu and Covid jabs and been quite ill after but no affect with the whooping cough.
I heard from my friends that belly brand helped them to take pressure from the back. I tried few brands but didn’t find one that i like and ended up not wearing one. For me - it was kind of too thick in the stomach and weird shape, so it was either not supporting my stomach or being too tight and hot
Whooping cough is just as important as RSV, I work in the NHS and there was recently a big increase in whooping cough cases in young children, it was awful to see. It can be very serious, especially in babies. It is not a live vaccine, you should not get unwell. I had no side effects at all, and gave birth just before the RSV jabs were rolled out so was gutted 😞 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/resources-to-support-whooping-cough-vaccination/whooping-cough-vaccination-in-pregnancy-guide
Thank you everyone so much! Ohh I didn’t know the whooping cough was for more for the baby lol I thought it was for me, that’s fine. Maternity grant at 29 weeks and I think I’ll just fight thru the back pain as it’s not an everyday thing, usually feel better after laying down and a hot water bottle. Appreciate it 🥰🥰🥰
You can apply for the maternity grant from 29 weeks so whenever you want to past that point. It takes around 4 weeks to be processed and paid if you’re accepted. I had both. No side effects from whooping cough except an ache in my arm for a few days. Whooping cough is just as important as RSV in terms of vaccination as they both pass to baby and ensure that baby is covered. If you’re still unsure, look up the effects of whooping cough on a newborn. No advice on belly band/pregnancy belt as I didn’t need one
