Anyone had a career change after having a baby?

All my previous jobs were retail or reception work & I had to be fully flexible on my availability. Now a mum(dad involved but doesn’t help with childcare), I have the free 15hrs nursery(on a waitlist) and my mum & aunty have thankfully offered to babysit a day each! I’m looking for 2-3 set days ideally! Did you find changing careers helped fit around childcare? (I’m just not finding anything! And I refuse to work full time cause with nursery fees/petrol etc I would be worse off financially!) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I am currently on maternity and due back in mid may and I’m currently looking for a new job… I work in a nursery (with infants) so don’t really want to work there anymore but I’m in the same boat of not wanting full time as the cost of that is too expensive and not being able to find anything that works for my schedule 😭

Mine is 2 and bit atm and i am thinking of career change as I'm a pre school teacher and just finding my hearts not fully in it anymore now I have my own. In it for about 12 years now.. and such bad pay for the stress.. but want to stay in childcare sector mainly for the discount of childcare costs you get and I know I'll miss seeing the children abit, so thinking of becoming a nursery kitchen assistant instead as the hours would suit better too plus i love cooking and baking. Xx

Mines 3 months old, im a nurse and only work 3/4 shifts per week, but my partner works 5days a week at his job also and we are finding childcare VERY difficult. Especially since we don't get the free hours until he's 9 months. I'd say try to get a stay at home job, that may be easier?x

If you are looking for part-time entry level jobs, then have you looked at supermarket/Royal Mail/care assistant/cleaner jobs?
