Solids and going out

How is everyone managing getting out and about while doing solids? I have an 8 month old and last week we have introduced a 3rd meal it's mainly more snack as he's not getting hungry enough yet and on 4 bottles. We currently give solids around 8. 30/9am then around 1/1.30pm and dinner about 5.30pm, he has 4 bottles between 7am to 7pm. He's not really eating anything himself so I am feeding him and he's currently on mashed food. I don't know how to do it if I'm out during the day. How is everyone else giving solids if they are out and about and still on puree/mashed foods? It also gets messy at times. I'm also making the foods everyday at the moment so I have no idea how I can go out for longer than 4 hours (giving milk is fine if I'm out)

My little girl is on 3 meals a day. I make her own food for and still feed her as well. When I go out for the day I always buy a couple of pouches for her age so she can have something while we are out

Thanks Sarah, I haven't tried pouches yet it might be worth giving him a few to get used to so I can use those

I have little Tupperware that I portion homemade stuff into for freezing. If I'm out, I'll take one out, and it'll defrost through the day then to heat it will stand in boiling water or microwave for 30 seconds depending on where we are 😊 I think the pots are munchkin ones as they have a silicone side so you can squeeze them to get the food out x

I just used pouches when out or make a little pack lunch and sit in a food place like McDonalds and put her in her high chair with her bib on but only done that once

I just plan our meals around our day/plans, she eats when I eat so we will eat together at home or if I am going out for food then I take a bib and her sippy cup out and she has some of my food. I’ve tried taking a pouch out but she didn’t like it and wanted my food so it went to waste x

I've just started trying to do some meals out. I'd do like a lunch type thing so I've batch cooked some eggy fingers, savoury flapjack, mini muffins etc that I keep in the freezer that I'd give him with some cucumber sticks and maybe some carrot puffs so it makes less mess, then I'd do his main mean when he's back home.

I use pouches, they’re very handy - just check the ingredients to make sure they’re not full of added sugar (they’re usually not because they have to stick to set guidelines) - the hipp organic ones of chicken and veg are good!

Thank you all, I didn't even think of using pouches while I'm out (I blame baby brain) it'll be easier when he's eating food himself and biting, at the moment it's still mushy which makes it harder being out

He's not having 3 full meals yet sl I guess i can make lunch abit snacky while I'm out and have a bigger breakfast and dinner

Yes pouches are best, I usually buy organic one with no dairy/sugar. (Mango- coconut-quinoa is my baby’s fav) Also it’s handy to carry a spoon in a sterile container - carry extra if possible. I just do this every Sunday in parents room at church.

If I know I’ll be out I’ll bring snacks bits like cucumber, orange slices, carrots etc. I find it easier because he’ll entertain himself with them so I can actually eat. I’ve also tried ordering food that I can give him like toasted bread, mash potato, scrambled egg, avocado. I’d then make sure his other meals for the day are more ‘complete’ with variety but he honestly doesn’t eat much of them. All else fails bring/buy a banana and mash it up with a fork
