introducing a pillow/duvet

has anyone introduced a pillow or a duvet yet? I am considering to do so but a little worried because my LG is a wriggler (I know I can tuck all the sides in!) Just wondered if anyone has done this and how it was for them?

My little one was born in November and she has had a pillow for about 6 weeks now as we moved her into a toddler bed. She sleeps so much better with the pillow. She is still in a sleeping bag but I am thinking of introducing a thin quilt soon xx

Yes I started using a pillow in October when she was almost 11 month, she moved her head off it for about a week but then took to it. I then introduced the duvet about a month ago when the weather started getting better and it wasn’t so cold on a night. If you’re worried start with giving her it at nap times so you can check up on her with the monitor and if all goes well give her it on a night! I would consider a coverless duvet if that’s something you’re open to. I use a normal one at the minute but I’ve heard stories of kids getting their head stuck between the buttons! So I will be ordering a coverless one asap. They are at the age now where they know to take it off their head if it happens to go on there, if you want to practice try putting a blanket on her head and play peekaboo! Hope this helps x

@Emmy I didn’t put her in a sleeping bag last night and she slept through so i’m wondering if a duvet will be a better alternative. She knows how to get blankets/things off her head but you just hear some horror stories 😭. I’d definitely opt for a coverless!! Thank you xxx

@Jessica maybe i’ll start with a pillow first xx

I was just discussing this with my partner yesterday. Which is the best pillow to buy

I started using a pillow at 9 months old (if not a bit sooner) and a duvet at 10 months old. Introduced both at nap times first and you can also get a coverless duvet from Dunelm which I think is a lot safer x https://www.dunelm.com/product/ditsy-bunny-pink-4-tog-cot-bed-quilt-1000186797

I've been wondering when to try as well as my boy fidgets all over and sleeps on his front. Has anyone used a pillow OK with a front sleeper?

I introduced a pillow a few months ago to prop my little one up when she had a cold but we haven’t taken it away since. We did spend the first 2 months with the pillow under the sheet as I was worried with it being loose however in the past month we have put it on the mattress just as we would use one. As for duvets, we have also introduced this in the past 6 weeks but it’s taken until this week for her to stay under it so I would hold off until the temperature doesn’t drop so much overnight as it’s been constant wake ups for us to tuck her back in for her to not get cold. My ones a massive fidget and sleeps on her front & does 180s and all sorts but now she can get herself back in her duvet she tends to stay head on her pillow a lot more since this week xx
