Need food/snack advice!

My kid isn’t a cereal kid, he’s just not into it, so we do brown toast. We was doing breakfast bars as that’s the only thing he would eat, until he started getting hyper and we clocked the sugar content. They went straight in the bin! So il often make my own pancakes as I can control the sugar. But apart from toast and pancakes, is there any low sugar alternatives? Same with snacks. He has a small lunchbox bag of biscuits with his dinner and a banana. I’m wary of certain fruits as they can contain a lot of natural sugars. I just bought some yoghurt coated strawberry bites and guess what? Piled with sugar! 14g per 25g bag and I just can’t! What low sugar snacks are you guys offering? I know I’m gonna be hard pushed to eliminate sugar altogether without making something myself and I just don’t have the time as much with a newborn. But my child doesn’t need 30-40g+ sugar a day! 😩 Any help and advice greatly welcomed!

Omg sugar!!! I know the nightmare. Breakfast I feed my girl porridge. I put in 6 blueberries and a sprinkle of cinnamon and loves it, asks for it every day. It’s that or runny egg and soldiers. Snacks- berries are a hit here. They are sweet but naturally low on sugar. Raisins, nuts are a also favourite. Cashews are a favourite here. Cubes of cheese. Then organix guffalo biscuits and gingerbread men. I also buy the apple and cinnamon rice cakes by Kallo, they are 1.8g of sugar per rice cake. Which is actually the same sugar content per 100g as the kids organix ones but half the price. Hope this helps.

@Laura Thankyou! Yeah it does massively. My kid is fussy. Will like something one min and not the next 🙄 deffo gonna give the berries a try! I know some fruit is high in natural sugars so I’ve been sticking to apples bananas and oranges 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, all the berries for low sugar! Eggs are a big favourite in our house for breakfast and snacks too!

I normally buy the organix snacks for my little boy as most of them have fairly healthy ingredients and don't use processed sugars. He loves the oat bars they do and they come in loads of different flavours and the gruffalo biscuits as well. For breakfast I normally make him porridge and will either put berries in or mix it with some mashed banana and a little drizzle of honey or cinnamon. I also do homemade pancakes sometimes with mashed banana instead of sugar and eggs are good for breakfast too 😊

Have you tried french toast 😋
