Ahh I remember how stressful this was! 😫 I tapered off after 12-weeks and they only gave me like 3 days. They said at that point baby wont be affected by the progresterone at all and it’s just an unecessary extra hormone to be taking. Once I stopped everything was completely fine and my nausea started going away too which was lovely ☺️
I stopped cold turkey as advised at 12 weeks and everything was fine!
I was on a high dose of progesterone and cut down gradually between 10 and 14 weeks. I was so anxious but it never caused any problems
I was very anxious about dropping progesterone as I was on a high dose due to early bleeds. However as soon as I hit 12 weeks I started to get migraines which were caused by a natural spike in my own progesterone. I was totally fine when I tapered off.
Thanks so much everyone! I took the clinic advise and I’m now on 1 a day until 16 weeks but I now wish I could stop all together as it’s so much less mess going down to 1! I also feel a lot less bloated.
@Danielle That’s interesting as I’ve been getting awful headaches the last week! Maybe that’s why
Hoping your headaches go away now that you’re reducing your dose!
So you have a lutenal-placenta shift during 8-12 weeks (So the placenta fully takes over progestrone supply) They extend in many cases to 16 weeks as a precaution (history of miscarriage and high risk factors etc) I got extended to 24 weeks for my own sanity, but most women that are taking progestrone over 16 weeks is to prevent preterm labour and the history, Personally it wouldn't hurt to ask to go to 24 weeks like myself, for mental sanity (and takes us to viability nicely) 😘💖
