It’s best to check your employees maternity policy. If you receive any enhanced pay this might be effected x
Yes I think it will , I also Locum and I know you are not allowed to do any work when getting maternity allowance . Well except the keeping in touch days .
If you are receiving Maternity Allowance, you can only do 10 days without it affecting your MA. If you’re receiving SMP, then you can do as much self-employed work as you want, assuming your contract with your employer allows it. This is the relevant guidance from working families: https://workingfamilies.org.uk/articles/what-work-can-you-do-during-maternity-adoption-parental-leave/
Hey, it will affect your maternity allowance. You will no longer be entitled to it. You would have to apply for universal credit
If it’s maternity allowance yes, if it’s maternity pay no…they’re different
In Canada, if you claim taxes on your self employed income then yes. If you don’t disclose that you’re earning money during your maternity pay, then you may owe at the end of the year and potentially have other complications. If you don’t claim taxes on that income, then no - it’s not “accounted for” so unlikely. I’d be a little bit wary of repeat, direct deposits to your bank, in case there was any suspicion to audit you, but still, that’s unlikely.
