Nope my 3 year old still uses his hands occasionally to be honest 😂. But he can use a folk etc I just always lay the table with cutlery and the rest is up to them. We all eat together so see us use cutlery xx
My little boy uses a spoon for most meals, he’ll pick up bigger chunks but something like a stew or bolognese he’ll have a spoon and has done since we started solids at 6 months. We load the spoon and he picks it up, eats it and returns it to the bowl for us to reload it’s taken us months to get to this point. Currently working on him loading the spoon himself which he’s slowly getting to grips with.
We feed her breakfast with a spoon, I'll give her finger food for lunch and then for tea she'll eat with her hands again, if there's something that would be easier with a spoon or something (we had cous cous the other night😂) then I'll put one there, she picks the first one up great and then mostly just plays with the spoon 😅 but it's there 🤷🏻♀️😅
My sons exclusively BLW, meaning I don’t interfere with how he feeds himself, and he has never had purées/blended foods apart from those which are naturally pureed like mash/yoghurt. He’s offered a pre loaded spoon to take hold of, and he tries, but half of the time he will just chew the spoon, throw it, or dig in with his hands 🤣x
Mostly with her hands, but anything that requires a spoon she'll feed herself once I've loaded the spoon. Working on her attempting to load the spoon herself x
We always put her spoon and fork on the table and she’ll often hold it but not really able to use it at the moment.
I can’t be dealing with the mess of a fork or spoon. I’m just going to wait till he has more control. He gets finger foods and if it’s something he can’t pick up I’ll feed him which he is fine with
We literally do a bit of everything tbh depending on the day/ how much time we have. She will eat with her hands most of the time then if it’s something that needs a spoon I will feed her most of the time but if we’ve got plenty of time to spare I’ll load the spoon for her and she uses it quite happily. If it’s something that doesn’t stick well to the spoon though it does go everywhere 😂
I voted yes but to be clear she mostly shakes the spoon around. She prefers to dig in with her hands.
Bit of both. It just gets so messy 🤣😭 but he feeds himself most foods with his hands. Just particularly messy stuff (yoghurts, saucy things basically) I try and feed him. He can use a spoon it just gets all over his face too 🤣
