Maternity leave

So I’m starting my maternity leave early. Officially at 31+1 but annual leave from 28+2 which for me is next week. I was advised to leave early due to some medical issues and I struggled at first as I know a lot of women try to work right up until the end. I just want to say take your leave when it is right for you and don’t watch what others are doing as each pregnancy is different. It’s ok to put yourself first.

Definitely true and best of luck! ☺️ I’ve read something interesting the other day, don’t know if any research has been done into this scientifically but does make sense from hormonal perspective - working past week 36-37 is linked with going into labour later as you are more likely to be stressed or just generally less relaxed whilst working. I’m planning to test this theory by finishing work around week 37 and seeing when the baby comes 😄

I took my maternity as early as I could too at 28 weeks, no medical issues I just want to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy and relax as I have a very physical job. No regrets I’ve got plenty of time now for self care and growing my baba stress free 💖

My plan was to finish at 37 week however will now be finishing at 35 weeks to hopefully enjoy some time off with my 3 year old and relax before our new baby arrives

With my first had to take my leave at 29 weeks as they weren’t making reasonable adjustments. Health and safety inspector was the one who told me and informed my boss (was only a week’s notice) as he deemed it unsafe for me to work. (Heavy lifting etc.) I don’t work in the same industry now so going at 36 weeks this time. X

I also had to take maternity early starting at 28+2 due to some issues and increased hospital appts. Definitely recommend as you can relax more and think about you and baby. Wishing you all the best x
