Not eating solids

My baby just turned 7 months old today, and he still doesn’t sit up. He hates both of the high chairs I bought and refuses to eat solids. I’ve tried everything every day, but nothing works. My pediatrician says it’s normal and that I shouldn’t worry until he’s 8 months old. Has anyone else gone through the same thing? I feel like I’m failing.

Hi! Does your baby like to touch/play with the food? If no, I would start from there. Also, have you tried offering a few different flavors of food? (Pureed sweet potato versus baby oatmeal vs plain yogurt)

Yes he does like to play and yes i tried different flavors and different textures.

Youre not failing! Keep on offering food daily, letting him play and seeing if he will accept you spoon feeding, even trying to eat food with him to get him to see that modeling. I would also encourage as much tummy time, sitting up right with support, as best as you’re able to.

He doesn’t like to be on my lap his always on the floor love to play his almost crawling. And yes I eat with him he played with apples and bananas while I’m eating but ones I put in his mouth the rest you know hahaha

My son doesn’t like purées either but he will take a few bites and that’s it. I give him scrambled eggs or like Cheerios but I make sure they are watered down with water and so they become soft and that’s how he eats them. I also give him frozen fruit and put it in one of those fruit feeder things. He’s almost 8 months so hopefully I can then give him more options. Plus he just broke out a tooth. I would try making whatever food you can make Mushy and see if he likes it.
