It depends on your area and how oversubscribed they are. I booked my baby in when I was 12 weeks pregnant and took the last place for May 2026 (this was in Nov 2024!)
Depends where you live, nurseries local to me usually have spaces so I was able to book my children in when I was organising going back to work
Definitely depends where you live. We didn’t look for a nursery until my daughter was 8/9 months old and she started at 12 months, there were plenty with places
I started looking when I was pregnant as the spaces get snapped up quick. Gives you chance to find one you really like too
I was 24 weeks pregnant when I booked my first one in for nursery.. the ones in my area get booked pretty quick, and we needed something secured for when I had to go back to work. For my second, I told the nursery when I was 12 weeks, and they booked me in that morning after drop off. It was easier to do because they knew us already... all I need to do is update DOB and name once baby is here in June
We looked when baby was about 3 months and of the 3 we considered - 1 was full until my LO would be 18 months, another had one space from when baby was 12mo and the third had a few spaces (they don't advertise and go off word of mouth though and generally keep lower numbers)
I booked my babies place when I was 23 weeks pregnant. There was a 14 month wait list. I'm in North Somerset. It depends on age you want them to start. Baby rooms have less spaces usually due to ratios and age. My step son started at 3yrs and we had no issues on spaces because there are double the spaces available in the pre-school room.
We couldn't book into ours until 3 months before she was due to start so went to look/applied in April and she started in July.
We got a place in the first trimester.
