Firstly, I would contact nurseries/childminders in your area to see if they even have availability due to the additional funding the spaces fill up FAST. I had my babies space confirmed at t months pregnant for her starting at 9 months. When you have your confirmed place you can apply for a tax free childcare account, this account with give you your code for funding as well as you will be able to pay the nursery via this account and the government will pay 20% of your bill. Bare in mind it's funded not free, so there may be charges for nappies/food/activities etc.

But when do i do this.. when I've confirmed the employment? Or do the childcare first then accept the job?

I would check if you can eve get a space at a childcare setting before you accept the job, unless you can find other forms of childcare until a space is available. The tax-free account, you need to be starting employment within 30 days yo apply for that.

Ok thankyou

Accept the job - if the job is good for you. Simultaneously, call and find nurseries or childminders and apply for 30hrs free plus childcare tax credit etc… the application takes less than 5mins

Start with a Google in your local area for nurseries. Then check ofsted reports and do a bit of local research for reviews. We narrowed it down to 3 and then rang with the days needed (T,W,T) and only 1 had this availability! Went on a visit and thankfully we liked it. He’s been there 2 months now and is thriving and loving it x

I would accept the job. And call all nurseries near you straight away and check spaces. Just be aware the free hours still cost a fair bit. Mine is going 2 days a week with 15 free hours it’s still £400/month. X
