Weaning!

Hey everyone. Just a quick question about weaning! Baby boy is 5 months old, but always hungry, yet refusing milk - HV has said weaning is fine at this stage as he’s sitting up etc. My question is - the veggie straw stick things all say 6+ months. Is this just because weaning is advised to start at 6m, or is there a reason for it? Would baby boy be okay having one or two every few days to get used to textures?

I'm not 100% but as weaning is now advised from 6months+ it may be why they say that. As you're starting early as advised, I, personally would offer but only under direct supervision. They're very melty so should be low choking risk

I was told by HV with both babies that weaning from 5 months ish is grand but to only stick to the smooth textures, baby rice/porrdige/purees. Then finger foods from 6 months due to increased core strength to prevent choking etc!

If weaning before 6 months you can only give totally smooth purées with no texture. From 6 months you can introduce other things.
