How long did it take your little one to start taking solids? We’ve been introducing purées to our 5 1/2 mo and he seems not interested yet

A few tries of different things with different tastes, smells and textures.. now he gives me the “give me the food mom!!” Look every time we eat 😂

@Amanda I’ve tried bananas and apples so far. I’m kinda wondering if I get one of those teethers that I can put frozen fruit into it if that will help

@Dusti yes definitely! We use those!! … also, I have (and will continue) to let him just sit in his chair and explore the food and the utensils with his hands! Baby cereal is a good option too. I honestly have found whenever I give him something new the more watered down (either with water or formula/breast milk) the more he takes and then each time after that I use less liquid!

@Amanda I’ve thought about cereal but he is currently on AR formula and I can’t use that to mix cereal with so I’m at a loss on that

@Dusti water? I use water instead of formula

Mine is started around 5.5 months and he took to puréed type texture immediately. But he’s still hesitant what to do with large pieces of food. He tried to put a green bean in his mouth, missed and become disinterested lol. He loves using spoons though, so we’ve been exploring more liquid textures alongside more solid foods for exploration and learning.

I skipped purees. I potatoes. I baked them so they'd be soft and he ate them. I also got puffs for him and then did more food. 1st meat I did was nuggets. We've basically just been doing baby led weaning.

@Dusti, we started around 5 months. Per our doctor's recommendation, they said 4 months because my baby has allergies, but he wasn’t into it. After a couple of weeks of sitting him in the high chair, he was totally into sitting and could do it on his own. He started to see the food. And he got super into it. At 5 months, we didn’t do it consistently at the beginning; I started giving them some food to try for 3 days to see if he would react. But now, he is super into it and wants everything. He is starting now at 6 months to have two meals a day. So I encourage you to show him the food, and I made my baby touch it to see different textures.

Just started with my 5mo and she’s just figuring out what to do with it in her mouth. My first baby wasn’t interested in solids until around 7-8 months but he’s 2.5yo now and puts down all foods 😂
