Preschool jabs - no judgement please

Has anyone else decided to wait a few months before getting the preschool jabs? I just think this age is too young for them to understand properly and we are currently going through a mega tantrum phase and a strange fear of new places. He doesn't go to nursery, I'm a sahm and we don't go to any groups. We sometimes go to the library and the park etc... Would I be an awful mum if I wait a few months until I feel he's ready and able to understand?

Perhaps you could consult your gp, just so your aware of any implications of delaying them, if there are none then you can wait with ease if there are implications, then you can make a knowledgeable decision about it.

Not an awful Mum at all you’ve got to do what’s best for you guys, I think you can have them between now and the age of 5. However, I personally went for this age as I feel the older he is the worse it’ll be, we played doctors at home I pre warned it will hurt a bit etc, I was expecting it to be awful. He went in no tears, no side effects I do think we worry more and they can defo deal with it more than we think xx

You're not an awful mum. But I've found that sometimes the longer we wait for things in the hopes of them understanding more, the harder it ends up being. We played DRs at home in the run up to the vaccinations. We "injected" into both arms so he wasn't surprised with that happening. I explain it will hurt, but we talk about what we'll get afterwards - eg. Go for a babychino together, get a little chocolate from the shops for him being brave & getting his vaccinations etc etc. My eldest had various hospital appointments around 3.5 & bloods taken - shortly after his vaccinations & that's the way we got through everything. With bribes 🤣 So we did the same with our youngest & he was super brave because he'd chosen to get a Kinder egg from the shops afterwards. Good luck 🤞🏼🍀🙏🏼

I delayed my boys by a month purely because he had surgery. I considered delaying longer because he's been through so much, but I decided it's better now, when he likely won't remember long term. Although he was very upset at the idea of them, he actually did brilliantly and after only complained once of a hurty arm. But he now keeps saying he's all better because he saw the doctor and they did his medicine etc. so overall the experience was fine.
