Baby names and friends

Personally I’d go for it, but just give them the heads up and explain :)

I would still use it if you feel comfortable. Our baby is being named after my maternal grandfather. We've had a boy and girl name selected for over 2 years. 2 sets of friends recently had boys and we both agreed we would still go with our name had they chosen the same one.

I am using a name a friend has for her daughter already. And she loved it when I told her. I mean, names are free to pick

You don’t need to consider anyone else. It’s just the parents and the name book making the decision. No one else matters. It’s not like buying the same jumper, it’s choosing a name that will stay with your child for life.

Agree with other comments that you should still use if you want to. For me personally I think it would depend on how close this friend was; if one of my best friends I maybe wouldn’t but if someone I didn’t see all the time then I would.

For me it would depend on several things, but I'd also talk to your friend too. 1. How much does this name mean to you? 2. How close is this friend? Are you going to be spending a lot of time with her and her baby? If so both of you shouting the same name for your child may get confusing at times. 3. How common is this name? Something like Amy, or Ellie etc there are already going to be others using but something unusual takes away the uniqueness of the name.

Yeah why can’t you use it they don’t own the name?😂😂
