I also had a rough labor. I only remember pieces because of pushing so long and becoming delirious. I hemorrhaged and lost 2L of blood. Also had a 3rd degree tear (nearly all the way). Also developed preeclampsia during labor and had to get the mag drip once she was finally out. My wife and sister said they were scared because of how bad I looked. I definitely had baby blues and felt dread anytime she cried. I also had anger, mostly associated with breast feeding (I quit that). It's almost 4 weeks later and I feel almost normal. Give yourself grace. Your body went through a lot physically and your hormones are adjusting. Lean on your support system for help. Any feelings you have are OK! You are allowed to be mad, sad, happy, scared etc. In time, things will get better.
Hey thank yall for your experiences. It is really helpful just to read!
I think for me, what I kept feeling was like I shouldnt be hurting or bleeding as much as I was and everyone kept asking me if I had a C-section but I think it doesn’t matter how you birthed your baby, you’re allowed to feel how you feel and that’s okay. It’s okay to take it easy and rest. That’s been the hardest thing to learn for me.
I’m so sorry you went through that ♥️ I pushed for 4.5 hours and then had an emergency c-section, plus some postpartum complications, so I understand where you’re coming from. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about it more. I’m about 3 weeks out and happy to share experiences!
I had planned for a natural unmedicated birth at the birth center and ended up with hypertension and an induction. I definitely feel ya on not going to plan. The first couple weeks of hospital visits is so rough but it gets better! We’re finally on our first week without doctor visits at 3 weeks and it’s such a relief! You got this!
