Has being home with me affected my little boys chances academically?

So long story short I was very fortunate to have 2 years off with my little boy, but it was just me and him 99.9% of the time so he is very attached to me, he’s in nursery now and has ups and downs. I said to a relative if I were to have another I would send that one to nursery at 1 as I think it would help massively with social skills, and then it was pointed out to me that being with me 24/7 may have affected his ‘learning’ and ‘academic’ education as kids tend to learn or take things in better from people who aren’t mum? I said well I know he is very clingy to me and very cautious of new people but his level of understanding has always been incredible, nursery even said when I was worried about his speech! Don’t worry his understanding of tasks is truly incredible, he just doesn’t need to speak because everything you ask he just gets it! He can count to 20 he can do the alphabet he speaks incredibly well now. So I’m wondering if any other SAHM have noticed a delay as there little ones started school?

I'm not a SAHM but sounds like your son is doing amazing. Sounds to be at a similar level to my daughter in terms of everything and she's been in nursery since 11.5 months.

My son has just started nursery at just over 2.5 and we've had no issues. I would not accept for a second if someone told me this has held my son back. 😊

Clingy = secure attachment, aka you are doing everything right mama ❤️

Do not worry! My eldest only started nursery at 3, she is now 5 (started reception in Sept), she's happy, confident in her abilities and is storming ahead at school, reading mid year one books with ease already. Your little one will be absolutely fine!
