@Chloe thank you so much! I feel AWFUL 😂 Hoping this is first trimester stuff and I will miraculously feel better in the second!? I have no idea how I’m going to cope with my toddler whilst heavily pregnant, as you say hoping for lots of help! We haven’t told anybody yet so it’s hard trying to mask the tiredness and general rubbish feeling in front of people! I don’t know what type of twins I’m having yet, they said it was too soon to tell but to me they looked like they were in the same sac and they were as close to each other as they could possibly be! To me that seemed like they were momo twins? But who knows, maybe something will change!
The best advice I can give is take each week as it comes and try not to worry too much. I had MCDA twins, found out at 10 weeks and had a very unproblematic pregnancy until around 26 weeks, then I was at the hospital a lot after that due to slow growth in one of the twins. My doctors were extra precautious because it was a high risk pregnancy and my birth plan went out of the window, but my twins are now 14 weeks, happy and healthy 🥰 Essentially the best advice I can give is go with the flow, listen to your doctors, rest a lot and be kind to yourself ❤️
@Lauren ❤️❤️ Thank you so much! I’m hoping after I’ve had a midwife appointment and got some more information on what type of twins I have I’ll be feeling more confident!
Do you know if you’re seeing a twin midwife? If not, don’t be surprised or upset if they don’t know much about twins and point you towards your twin consultant that you’ll start seeing I believe around 16 weeks. I had a ‘normal’ midwife and honestly I saw her a few times but it was more like a friendly chat and blood pressure checks because she didn’t know anything about twin pregnancy, she tried to book an appointment when I was 39 weeks when I couldn’t go past 36 because of the type of twins I had 😂😅 If you do have any questions or just want a chat feel free to send me a message or reply here, having twins and being pregnant with twins can be quite isolating because not many people have been through it ❤️
@Lauren thank you so much! I think my first appointments been booked with a normal midwife but when I had my scan they did mention I would be referred to a twin clinic so I assume I will have a twin midwife when I get referred? I have so much anxiety about something awful happening to one or both of them! Just hoping these next 6 weeks go quickly so I can get my next scan and check they are ok!
I never got a specific twin midwife but you’ll definitely have a consultant who knows about twins, they’re much more knowledgeable anyway and if for any reason you don’t like them speak to the reception desk and request someone else, that’s what I did and the experience was so much better after this 😊 I felt the same until they were here if I’m honest, the anxiety calmed down a little after 24 weeks but it never really went away. I barely bought anything out of fear of something bad happening but just try and think of the positives, also there are so many more twin specialists now that there’s lots of options if things do go wrong at any point x
Congratulations xxx
Hello Congratulations How are you feeling? I was in exactly the same situation as you I’m not sure about the complications question as it all depends on the type of twins you have I had more regular scans and visits and my twins were DCDA (this is the most common type of twin pregnancy and lowest risk) I felt very relaxed throughout, I think all the extra scans helped with that You’ve got this Just a warning get as much help as possible towards the end of pregnancy Heavily pregnant and a toddler is what I found the hardest out of all of it! Any questions please feel free to ask
