I’m sure the tax free childcare above has income restriction and doesn’t apply if there is a combined income of £100k+
I could be wrong but I think its if an individual is over 100k not a combined salary for the tax free childcare
You would be eligible for tax free childcare but it’s capped at £500 every 3 months. My childcare in highland is £880 a month. That’s 4 full days in nursery. My in-laws do one day a week. It’s a real struggle but need to work to pay for the childcare. The irony! The deep joy being entitled to no help. So frustrating. X
Sounds like you are eligible. Just google tax free childcare and take it from there, it’s a relatively simple process to set up and manage
Every child gets funding the term after their third birthday. Income doesn't matter
Is the tax free childcare in Scotland??
@Monika yeah it is
The situation is Scotland is you get nothing towards childcare until age 3 unless you are in receipt of certain benefits. You get the tax free thanks to the UK government. Do not feel bad. We are in a similar situation - household income before tax is around £120K. Our childcare fees for 5 days full time were around £1300 per month, from this month the fees have went up again and we’re now £1450 per month. It’s a real struggle and it’s more than our mortgage payment and it makes me sick because we are both out working full time, everything has gone majorly up in price and on our earnings we pay significantly more in income tax in Scotland but somehow the government here don’t see the disparity in funded childcare as an issue for working parents. I don’t believe they will change it anytime soon. They have been receiving the money to do it since the funded hours were rolled out elsewhere and will get more again come September when England moves to 30 funded hours for 9month olds x
The 9 month funding is England only. There is no funding until 3 years old here in Scotland and it's 30 hours term time or 22 hours a week spread across the year. I don't believe there are income restrictions for that. There is also tax free childcare which is an account you pay into so for every £8 you put in the government puts in £2 and you use the account to pay for childcare so you can get up to 20% off you childcare bill as there's a max limit on how much the government will put in
