Getting colours mixed up

Lily sometimes gets some of her colours mixed up for example she’ll say brown instead of white. She knows her main primary colours it’s just the odd time she will say brown is black and white is brown. Her dad thinks she may have colour blindness, I have no concerns around this though. I thought it was normal for a 3 year old child to sometimes get their colours mixed up?! Would you be concerned?

I wouldn't be concerned just yet. I get told off if I say olivers clock is red. He says no mammy it's orange. Close enough I suppose. He gets really cross if I say a daffodil is a daffodil. No mammy dandelions!!! It's a funny age, hard to know sometimes if they are pulling our leg or not haha xx

I think this is normal when they first learn colours. My 3.5 year old also got black and white and brown mixed up for a long time when she first learnt her colours. I think it's just cos they're the less exciting ones and don't get spoken about as much when learning colours.

Not 100% sure but colour blindness is usually green yellow blue red that gets mixed up. At least that's what I'm regularly tested for in my job. My little girl gets black and brown mixed up, I think it's quite normal

Thanks guys! I did think it was nothing to worry about given her age and the colours she gets confused with but her dad is insisting that she needs her eyes checked because of it 🙄
