Stressed :(

I’ve been feeling a bit stressed lately by what I see on social media about what my almost one-year-old “should” be doing. When it comes to food, he still relies on four 8oz feeds a day and isn’t the best eater. I offer him three meals, and while he tries most of it, I don’t feel ready to drop any feeds. But seeing other mums’ meal vlogs, where their babies eat so much, makes me feel like I’m failing. I’ve also tried offering different foods, but it’s hit or miss. He refuses to drink water from a straw cup—he can suck yoghurt from a pouch but won’t even try with water, no matter what I add! As for motor skills, he’s not crawling or walking yet. While I believe he’ll get there in his own time, I can’t help but feel pressured when people seem surprised. I’ve encouraged him to crawl and walk, but he doesn’t seem too interested. I have a follow-up with a health visitor because he didn’t meet his motor milestones, but they’re happy with everything else. Still, I can’t help but stress sometimes. Is anyone else’s almost one-year-old not crawling yet?

I literally could have written this post myself about the food!! My little boy is EXACTLY the same and turns 1 next week, sorry no advice but you’re not alone 🤍

My friend's little boy was the same with the food. She was advised by the hv to reduce his milk intake and now he's eating so much more. As for motor skills, don't stress. He'll get there. We all have different skills and don't accomplish everything at the same time xx

You are doing nothing wrong and are doing your very best. From someone whose baby eats anything and everything I can assure you I did nothing to help that and she’s just a foodie. If you’re offering a range of food and a good amount you are doing all you can. Same with the crawling and walking if you are trying to help and doing activities with them then you are doing amazing. Don’t doubt yourself they are strong willed and only do what they want to no matter what you do so you persevering in helping is all that matters xx
