I give milk first otherwise she doesn’t have any milk. And that’s meant to be main source of nutrition until 1 x
It changes for us each day 😅 if he's only just had a feed (we bfeed many times in the night) then I'll just give him his brekkie and then a feed towards the middle of the wake window, if he's been asleep for a couple hrs then ill feed him first. Sometimes my husband takes him for the first hour of the wake so he'll do brekkie and I'll feed when I'm awake. I've seen different things reccomended and honestly I find all the noise quite tiring! So we just do whatever works for us on the day. He always has his milk so the order for us doesn't change much. Some things are worth being exact about and some things aren't!
I breastfeed when he wakes up then give him breakfast 1-2 hours later after we've taken his brother to nursery and I'm more awake. Personally I think it's more important they get their milk at this age as it's the main source of nutrition, especially if they are going all night with no feed or maybe one feed. I think when people say breakfast first is because there is weaning advice that you don't give them food when they've just filled up on milk as they are less likely to try it. The right thing to do is whatever is working for you and your LO. If they are happy and feeding well then keep doing it.
My LO doesn’t really have a morning bottle anymore as he still has 1-2 feeds during the night. So he has breakfast around 8am then lunch around 12pm then a mid afternoon bottle then dinner then bottle before bed.
I currently give bottle first before any meals. And schedule a meal around 45-1hour after a bottle. I’ve read that from around 9 months onwards you can give a meal first before bottle. I’m first time mum too so I’m going to do some more research into that to make sure it’s right.
I always offer a bottle first when he wakes but he’s sometimes not interested - it depends on how the night has gone (he usually has 1-2 bottles per night) so then he’ll just eat his brekkie instead. Ps everyone is winging it don’t worry 😉
I give breakfast first. He has 3 meals and 3 bottles. A bottle before each nap and then before bed time.
I EBF. But was told by the HV the other day, at this age they can start having food first and top up with milk a bit after a meal.
I give bottle when he wakes up as he doesn't have a night feed and then I give breakfast an hour later, then I'll give lunch and then a bottle and then dinner and then his bedtime bottle. He will sometimes have an extra one if he hasn't had much milk though 🙂
Omg I feel you I felt the same.. I had a good chat with HV the other and she recommended this and it’s worked so well! He’s gone from 1 meal to 3 proper meals. I was so confused by everything I really didn’t know what I was doing! Too much conflicting stuff xxx
My little girl has her first bottle at half six then has breakfast around nine then her next bottle a couple of hours later
