@Jolene I like these ideas! I think she would enjoy going to an aquarium. I was thinking of doing a photo shoot and then as a family have food and let her blow out her candles on her cake. But I felt like that wasn’t enough lol
I second @Jolene ‘s suggestion. That’s what I did for my kiddo’s 2nd birthday and it turned out great. On the weekend of her birthday we did a playdate at a local storybook themed playground. Kept it small and cute; just her and a friend from daycare. Got 4 cupcakes, called it a day. Was done by 1:30pm ☺️ Then the next day we did the zoo with just family and close friends. On her actual birthday, I did birthday pancakes for her in the morning, daycare threw her a party in the afternoon; and at home I had an intimate celebration with just her and her dad. Did a zoo themed cake and opened presents. @KishThen to close out her birthday week, I took her to her favorite place;the beach; and kept it light. Just me and her, and her favorite snacks at her favorite beach. Stayed until the seals came in, left in time to see the stars and the planets come out at our place. She loved it. Pointed out the moon, the planets; and would yell out “airplane” every time she saw one in the night sky 🥹.
And I 1,000% agree with you. A birthday party is pointless at this age; they don’t really have friends like that and it’s just for family 😒😒😒 so…nah you can miss me with that 😅😅😂😂. I did it for her 1st birthday and it was a lesson learned. So for her 2nd birthday, I was like I’m good 😂. And it’ll be the same again this year for her 3rd birthday. I’m not spending the time, energy or the money on something that she won’t even remember or fully enjoy just for a bunch of adults to feel good about themselves. So it will be another playdate, this time with maybe 2 friends from daycare; her dad and I split so he can have his own thing with his family for her; daycare will throw another party —they do it for all the kids— Then she and I will have our “mommy and me outing” to close out her birthday week: beach, snacks, seals, planets. I’m going to make it a tradition because THAT, she will remember, and that’s what’s important, building a tradition with our babies. 💜
I found out Walt Disney World has a promotion for 50% off kids. I'm getting him in before his 3rd birthday. I know not everyone can afford it, but we found a half decent way to make it happen.
@Josie I love that! It sounds like you all probably had so much fun. Way better than a birthday party. I love that you made it a birthday week instead of just for the day. And right?! It’s especially crazy when people come and eat up everything but don’t stay to help clean up after. There’s no obligation of course but at least offer. I love love love the mommy and me outing idea. I think I may do similar as well. And yes you’re right, something much more meaningful she will remember. It’s also great that she’s in daycare and they can help her celebrate as well.
A trampoline park is always super fun for my two year old! Or if you have a local playhouse!
Zoo or aquarium, kids museums, any local soft play centers?
