Hello all! I am mother of a 13 month old baby and I have been exclusively breast feeding my baby. I have lost a lot of weight in the past 1 year (16kgs) Now my weight is 44 kgs. I feel very weak now. What concerns me more is that I fear if I am losing weight due to any underlying medical condition or is it just because of breast feeding? I want to know if anyone else also went through the same thing. Every single person I meet tells me that I have lost too much weight and now it's making me very anxious to the point that I have started thinking that I have a serious underlying medical condition that I am unaware of 😭😭😭 I got many basic blood tests done too by the GP and they all seem okay except for low iron and borderline low Hb. I also get palpitations very often and I feel very tired all the time, on top of that this health anxiety is really making my brain crazy

That would explain your symptoms. Take iron pills or increase iron in your diet This alone will make you feel better. Otherwise sounds like you're perfectly healthy and lost the weight in a perfect way. Continue to eat well and hydrate. Nothing big to worry about.

Were you trying to loose weight? Are you now underweight? If youve lost more then 10% if speak to your doctor to see if they can check for anything else. Maybe try tracking your calories a day to make sure you are eating enough? Then can try increasing it to see if you maintain/stop losing. Not everyone can track calories though especially if there’s a history of disordered eating so be careful. Maybe with looking after baby you’ve not been eating much without realising and then burning extra on top by breastfeeding. Iron deficiency can deffo make you feel crappy. Low blood sugar can make anxiety worse so make sure you’re eating regularly. :)

Literally same!! I am exclusively breastfeeding but after 4 months of doing it I lost 10 lbs! It had everything to do with how much I was eating and drinking!! I was not eating a lot pretty sure i just had a rapid loss of appetite and I’m already a small female, after birth I weighed 120 and I always have weighed around 120 my whole life so to lose 10 pounds was very frightening for me. I eat like crazy now and I drink breakfast essentials, and boost every single day it has about 300-500 calories, high protein and it’s for maintaining and gaining weight they help so so much if you’re struggling with eating as much!! I know it’s super hard while ebf all the emotions and feelings especially dealing with weight loss but you got this mama!!

I’m always so sleepy too! But just keep up the eating take walks with your baby throughout the day!! It helps so much the sun gives you lots of energy it helped me tremendously feel more motivated to stay awake and keep up with a good schedule!! Also it makes my legs feel great because I too feel “weak” or “fragile” at times. hit the gym a few times a week if you can even if it’s for only 30 mins! Everyone also told me I lost too much weight and specially my bd because he seen me all in all and seen I had some “bones” and “areas” showing that never showed before. It’s okay!! Don’t let anyone get to you and just prioritize gaining!! don’t stress at all it makes it 10x harder. You got support over here mama!
