I developed preeclampsia during labor and had high BP after. After a couple weeks it started to go down. My BP readings were also better with a manual cuff vs automated cuff. It does take time for BP to normalize. Try to take it easy for awhile so your body can rest and recover.
Thank you for sharing. I’m really nervous about this but I really am gunna just try to relax and give my body time
@Jennifer @Lesteen thank you
Have you talked with your provider about it? I was induced for high BP (it came out of no where) and monitored PP, as a result I started on a very mild BP med. Things have leveled out now but my provider said it can take 6ish weeks for hormones to chill out and get consistent solid readings. I would contact your provider!
You're welcome. My doctor had me check my BP in the morning and evening. They were going to discuss the option of medications if my BP didn't improve enough. Your provider should be keeping an eye on your BP and will let you know if they think you need medications. If your BP is 160s/100s (or a level your doctor says is the limit) go to emergency. Also if you have any concerning symptoms (vision changes, headache that won't go away, light headed, etc). If you feel fine and your BP is not dangerously high, just keep relaxing, the high BP is likely just you recovering. Like how someone who is sick might have a higher BP.
I will say don’t play with high blood pressure pressures if your feet start to swell go to the emergency room immediately
I was almost a week postpartum got released from the hospital that same day started having dramatically high blood pressure and my feet and ankle were the size of Texas and I started to get really hot and I had preeclampsia and my blood pressure went from high to stroke level in a matter of hours
@Mae that's scary! But I absolutely agree. Any concerning symptoms, go straight to emergency.
Yes they have been monitoring me since I left the hospital and all of my swelling has gone down and they saying I don’t have protein in my urine but my Bp hasn’t improved. It has been stuck a this elevated but not dangerously high since birth but not getting higer or lower . They have decided today to switch me to a maternal fetal medicine doctor and starting some blood pressure medication because it’s elevated and see if that helps
@Jennifer girl it was terrifying and you feel like absolute crap like just that you have ran 10 marathons in your body is running on E
They had to put me on magnesium for 24 hours and try out a bunch of different blood pressure medication’s
@Mae I’m glad you here to tell us all about it praying I can get mine under control without reaching that point
If you want to, you can message me and if you have any questions about how you’re feeling or anything like that, just let me know. I mean, as someone who went through it, I would be more than willing to help out.
@Mae aww thank you I’m definitely going to dm you

I have had the same issues they got me on a medication that was working but the last two days it’s spiking again
@Arieal how many weeks post partum are you ?
3 weeks
@Arieal I’ve read a few post on this app and it seems like it may just take finding the right medication
That’s what we keep trying. It also doesn’t help I have pots so they’re trying to be careful because before I delivered my blood pressure was running super low that I was having pass out spells and now it’s running super high and they’re scared that it’s just gonna drop and with the medicine they have to have me on to help lower my blood pressure they don’t want it to bottom me out at the same time
I was but taking medication helps. Did they prescribe it to you? Also sleep and drinking more water
I am in the same boat
