Stacking fingers down his throat

My little man keeps stacking his fingers at the root of his tongue and gaaging. I am worried he starts “enjoying” it and will keep doing it out of habit/for fun How do you discourage your babies from doing it? He mostly does it right after he had a meal to be fair, but sometimes when he is just bored as well

I’ve not had experience of this specifically but I would use a firm NO, remove hands from his mouth, and give him something to distract him (maybe something else to put in his mouth, teething toy or something?) sometimes I find they keep doing it for the reaction if you give a big reaction, they don’t care if it’s positive or negative at this age!

My babygirl does this too and I always try to help take her hand out of her mouth as much as possible. Hopefully it doesn’t become an habit

My girl used to do it a lot when she was 4 months old then stopped and recently she’s been doing it again 🙃 I think it’s just part of them exploring the limits of their mouth, I just try and take her hands out of her mouth, hoping she stops soon 😅

I read somewhere it might be a sign your baby is lacking some proprioception input from his body hence he is stimulating body sensations by doing so. I think there is an OT in this group

Ok so my baby does this too! She does this when she’s eating or not eating and also tries to shove things down her throat too, like her toy hammer or the long foam building blocks or that. I take them off her and remove her hand but like I’m not sure what else I should do🫠

@Maria where can I find this?
