Might be a silly question but confused!

So I’ve just been offered a part time remote job for Saturdays and Sundays which is so ideal as my son’s dad can look after him on weekends. It pays me just enough that I’ll still get UC on top. My son’s one and he isn’t walking or talking yet and I really want him to have social interactions with other kids so I wanted to put him with a childminder like once a week. My question is can I sign him up to a childminder once a week and pay for it upfront and will UC reimburse me for that one day? I plan to sign him up for nursery in September once the 30 hours funding starts, will I be eligible for both if I’m working 15 hours on the weekends? I don’t want him to miss out on either. Working weekends makes sense as I can’t afford childcare during the week. Please comment if you know, thanks in advance! x

Best thing to do is message in your journal or pop into the job centre they should cover upto 85% of childcare costs but they pay a month in arrears I did this with my son and you just have to send it the invoice from child-minder when they ask for it

Will they ask me the days I’m working? I’m just worried they’ll say since you work 2 days a week on weekends you don’t need childminder and not reimburse me if I pay upfront😬

They shouldn’t ask you the days you work and yes they should give you back the 1 day a weeks. Just ensure your pay matches the hours he’s in childcare xx

@Kiera sorry, I’m so new to this! What do you mean ensure your pay matches the hours he’s in childcare? x

So she means that you can't put your child in full time nursery 30 hours a week if you're only working 8 hours a week (for example)
