First pregnancy- etopic

So my heart has been broken.. after finding out we where pregnant... then on Tuesday at a early scan due to brown in my urine. They found my pregnancy in the fallopian tube. Absolutely devastated. I had to go for emergency surgery.. how will I get over from this and what happens next! Thinking will I ever conceive now after having my left tube removed 😭 has any one been through this? How long did people wait until they tried again?

So sorry , I know how devastating it can be and I hope you're doing and feeling ok . I had an ectopic in May which was treated with methotrexate, I fell pregnant again in August and found out it was another ectopic in the same tube (left) which was removed in September. I didn't even have a period when I found out in October I was pregnant again , they brought me in for a scan and baby was in the right place . He will be 2 next month x

I’m so sorry my lovely. I had this in 2019 and my heart literally broke. It isn’t easy. I found it worse than my other miscarriages. BUT even though I had my right tube removed, we conceived pretty quickly after that (although still resulting in loss due to my high nk cells). Fast forward to now and we have a beautiful rainbow baby through IVF. I’ve heard so many women conceiving quickly after an ectopic. I would say though I wasn’t ready mentally for a few months after that. Please message me if you want to talk. Sending you hugs x x

Thanks girls for responding xxxx honestly it's just heartbreaking šŸ’” one minute I'm ok, the next I just break down. I am trying just think u know- it wasn't ment to be. And thankfully I knew something wasn't right! And luckily they found it.. with anything rupturing. My concern is it happening again and I just don't think I can bare this again. But ofcourse my partner and I are desperate to have a little one. It's brings me great joy, to know you both have had successful pregnancies xxx

Sending love, it’s a horrible traumatic experience especially when you need emergency surgery and tube removal. I had an ectopic in May 2024 at 9/10 weeks and it was awful, I was really unwell and needed my left tube out too. They also found that I had endometriosis which I had no idea about, so I was left grieving and wondering if I’d ever get pregnant again…however I’m now 32 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby, so I hope this gives you some hope for your future. Even though the tube is removed the ovary still functions and eggs can still make it down to your womb (mad I know!). We got pregnant the first month we started trying again (after waiting as advised by consultant). Look after yourself, it’s a hard recovery and I know I will never get over what happened to us, it’s very complicated and no one can tell you how to feel. Xx

I had this exact it’s my second. This was at the begging of the year. We waiting about 5 months before we tried again, that was mainly as I wasn’t sure I wanted to try again after the last time so took me a little while. Physically I felt fine to try sooner. We fell pregnant after 3 months of trying and it was a viable pregnancy. I would Say the care and attention I received from EPU, when I told them I was pregnant again was excellent and definitely made the experience much easier (having very early scans and tests etc)

Im sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic pregnancy too and was rushed into surgery 3 weeks ago, my scars are still healing. The whole thing was traumatic and feeling hopeless

How can one prevent this from happening again?

@Zahra you can’t really šŸ˜• it can be due to previous damage to the fallopian tubes through infection or other conditions, or it can just happen. I was able to get an early reassurance scan at the hospital with my second pregnancy to make sure it was in the right place. Also my consultant told me that 65% of women will go on to have a healthy pregnancy within 18 months of an ectopic

@Jade congratulations on your pregnancy and sending lots of love ā¤ļø

@Zahra you can't unfortunately, after my surgery I was told my other tube was fine and didn't have any damage x

@Zahra thank you, sending you lots of love too 🩷

I had an ectopic and emergency surgery to remove my left tube in January. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever had to go through & my heart breaks for any woman that has to experience this. I’ve read lots of positive stories about women conceiving quickly after their ectopic šŸ«°šŸ¼. Me personally I’m too traumatised to try again yet… it took me 2 years to conceive with 2 tubes let alone 1 xxx
