Am I worrying too much or should I go get checked?

I'm 29 +1 with my 3rd and yesterday had some spotting(literally just a few drops of bright red blood). I've been having Brixton hicks for a few weeks now so hard to tell if anything is actually happening. Today I've had lots of mucus type discharge with lots of brown (very similar to the end of a period but thicker more jelly-like discharge). I know I can panick alot and other than explained I've no other symptoms. With my first I was induced and my 2nd I went naturally at 37 weeks but my labour was only 5 hrs 20 mins start to finish so didn't have chance to experience any kind of build up to labour. Is my body getting ready or is this something "normal" that I've just not experienced before? I know I can worry alot and having my older children it's not easy making the 2.5 hour journey to the closest maternity unit. So I wanted to ask here before worrying myself any further. Please be kind, it's my first time on this planet just like you 😊

Do you have a maternity triage number to ring for your hospital? If you do they will be able to advise whether or not to come in. They will WANT to hear from you if you have these kinds of worries.

First questions they ask is have you had any blood loss, discharge loss or clear loss. Please call and get checked out to prevent any worrying 🩷

Have you had sex recently ?

I haven't been in this situation as I'm only 16 weeks with my first pregnancy, but just wanted to let you know I can relate to health anxiety and being worried about worrying too much. It's exhausting and I feel for you. But I would echo what has already been suggested to call the maternity unit for advice. They will know better than any of us who don't know you or your situation and would just be guessing (even with the best intentions). And even if they ask you to go in and everything turns out to be fine, it's better to know for sure and be able to put your mind at rest.

Please go get checked, you can never be too careful. Let us know how you get on! Hope everything is ok x

Thank you everyone! I will definitely give them a ring and see what they suggest. I was asked if I had sex and yes but it was about 4 days prior to this starting so I didn't think of that

The challenge is that everyone is different. But when l had lots of mucus like discharge is was the plug that was coming off and me going into labour, all 3 kids were the same.... one at 32 weeks. If it is (I'm not saying it's definitely that) you maybe in early labour. I would get it checked, better safe than sorry.

If something you worried about you always need to get checked it’s better to be safe than sorry ☝🏼
