Baby doesn't want to eat

Hi, FTM here. My baby girl is 1 month old, she weights around 4.8kg and usually drinks 120ml of milk (or formula) but I'm really struggling to get her to feed today... In the past 5 hours she's had 60ml in 2 sessions and keeps falling asleep while feeding. I don't know what to do! She's definitely not sick or constipated so I don't know why she won't eat.

Do you change nappy turn light on, sit in living room during day times, if not try that, curtains open in morning even throughout naps, so they get used to that it’s the day and then dark for night times only, don’t watch the noise your making in day either as it’s normal, make sure baby is fully awake and alert before you even offer bottle, also the heat’s getting worse so monitor temp of room and of baby and adjust layers accordingly x

@Aliscia In terms of that I do all of it right, she just doesn't want to eat today

Is she having wet nappies?

If she’s filling her nappy regularly don’t worry .. as adults we have days where we won’t eat as much , little ones can be the same I know it’s easier said than done but don’t stress your doing amazing 💕

It's a lot warmer today than it has previously been, so that could be a factor. I would offer little and often with her milk and see how it goes. As long as she has plenty of wet nappies, I wouldn't worry too much, but if you are concerned, you can always give NHS 111 a call.

@Cheryl Yes, very heavy ones as well

It could be a growth spurt. If she recently feed a lot, cluster feeding, she’s likely growing. I feel I remember mine eating less some days. As long as she has decent amount of wet nappies you should be fine. If it persists several days, or less wet nappies, contact a doctor.

As Morgan said. If she's having wet and dirty nappies then I wouldn't worry about it. She's probably going through a stage where she needs more sleep. At this stage they sleep a huge amount anyway. Provided she's not of course overheated then I would probably let her sleep and not force it. If she's having heavy wet nappies then she's all good. Just not as hungry as she was the other day. Remember at this stage they are growing and developing loads. They need the sleep
