Birth Story ❤️

It’s a tough and joyful story; but I’m so proud! Labour was SO HARD, but I freaking DID IT!!! I brought my baby into this world with POWER! Especially since I had to fight to have a homebirth – home births in South Africa are soooo hard to come by because of medical insurance! Don’t get me wrong - early and active labour were the most insane & intense hours of my life and so painful 😅 All of the tools I thought I would use weren’t helpful to me (birth pool, birth ball, playlists I chose); and I literally had to figure what I actually needed in between surges! That’s why I loved the concept of BUILDING A BIRTH TOOL KIT - like you shared. The tools I ended up using and that got me through labour were the love of my birth team, a SUPER flexible birth plan (not knowing my dilation saved my homebirth!!!!) and honestly my mental strength - I had to go INWARDS to get THROUGH. Ah - but the birthing stage!!! That is a high I’ll never forget! 😍That was my favourite 30 minutes of labour / my life. I absolutely owned that part and I knew what to do after your birth box videos. I just remember my doula and midwife saying in amazement between surges “You’re breathing your baby out!!!!” 😂😍 I ended up squatting my lil 4.7kg baba next to my bed while my husband held me up. There is absolutely nothing in this world like embracing your baby for the first time. And to be able to do it at home is out of this world. My husband literally fed me a meal while I breastfed our baby in our bed after ❤️ Aaaah I know I shared a bit more of the birth story here than I probably planned - but it just felt so good to write out! I will still write it out fully and share it🙏❤️ oh I forgot to mention that I birthed him on 41weeks 5 days 😂 it was a wild birth week!
