Daycare incident

Just put my three year old in daycare for the first time i’m already super nervous about the idea of her in someone else’s care. It didn’t help when I went online to do some further research on the daycare and there was an incident three months ago a teacher abused a kid and ended up in jail, but in the footage, there was another teacher and she did nothing about it, makes me wonder how often does that happen that the teacher reacted as nothing and the children seemed used to it. What are y’all opinions? Aslo it was a male teacher he hit the kid then brought him to the adults bathroom and choked him, in the report he was screaming loud but no one came to check.

I’d be very stressed about that as well! Maybe raise it with them and see how they respond? Ask them what they have put in place since then to keep other kids safe, and maybe was the other educator fired?

I’ll definitely be asking tm thank you for your input

That story alone would stop me from sending my kid there! Somebody in management gave that person a job….

Ugh that would stress me out, is there any other options near by in case u don’t like what they have to say about that? Is there Montessori programs in ur area? It’s around the same price were I live and more reputable positive environment, just a thought

How can he scream and be choked? Going to the bathroom?? That sounds like something more happened, sometimes kids (especially boys) are ashamed to admit to sexual abuse and end up holding that in secret or admitting later on. But I would not leave my kid there and also reach out to licensed department of the state, look up police reports with the department in that city, look up reviews of past employees as well. The teacher not doing anything about it, or being I don’t care attitude is beyond red flag because that means all staff there are all the same.

Surprised the nursery is still open after an incident like that. If you feel concerned, book a meeting with the Head to discuss your concerns and learn more about what’s changed from a safeguarding pov. If you’re not satisfied after the conversation, change nurseries asap. It’s not worth it at all sending your child anywhere where you think there’s potential for harm.
