Nursery/childminders

Hi all I am 34 weeks pregnant and planning to have 9 months Mat leave. I’ve been told I should have already signed my child up for childcare already ? Have I left it too late ? I mean a lot can happen in this time as MIL is dropping her days at work next year so may be able to help out more nothing is 100%! I’m starting to worry, should I reach out to places before she’s even born ? Thank you in advance 🫶🏼

Hi I was also told this, but it actually depends on the nursery. Some nurseries get signed up to a year in advance whereas others you can leave it late. I took my daughter to view two nurseries at 6 weeks old, one said they were nearly fully booked, one complimented me on being so organised and signing up early. Also even if a nursery is fully booked up spaces do become available, because some people sign up but then change their mind closer to the time. If you sign up for a nursery early you can change their hours later, you aren't held to it.

I booked at 5 months pregnant as near me they all seem booked up about 6-8 months in advance - but you should still have plenty of time if you look now
