Maternity leave

Anybody that’s a healthcare assistant in the hospital/does 12.5 hour shifts , when did you start your maternity leave? I’m aiming for 35 weeks but I’m nearly at 32 and struggling as on feet all day sometimes one day after another don’t wanna go too early but also don’t want to do too much

I’m a nurse and work 12.5 hour shifts, I worked until 38 weeks but it nearly killed me. Check your maternity policy because you can go off sick and they’ll not start your maternity until a certain week of pregnancy, it’s 36 weeks on our policy I think x

@Thyra oh really, I’ll have to have a look I haven’t had any sickness in this pregnancy on what should be my last week they’ve lit me on four long days back to back with the expedition of one days rest 😵‍💫😵‍💫x

I’m a nurse and worked full time doing 12.5 hour shifts until 37 weeks, was definitely a struggle towards the end though. I was meant to work 4 long days in my last week but had accrued enough hours to come off of one of them

Oh wow, that’s horrible! If you’ve got any annual leave they may let you use that too so worth looking at the options, they can’t really complain about pregnancy related sickness, especially when you’ve not had any throughout your pregnancy x

Currently 34w 4d working 12hr shifts in the ED and my OB called today and told me to rest and elevate until my next appt on Friday because they want to refer me to ortho. Sooo we’ll see when the leave starts
