Ive started to wean my daughter she in fact turned 4months few days ago, and she absolutely loves it! Everyone has their own opinion, just go with your gut feeling, and see what your baby wants 🥰
personally do whatever you want it’s your own child
do what you feel is right, we started our weaning journey at 5 months and he was so ready for it, he was such a foodie. people will have their opinions but you’re right, if it isn’t safe why is it 4m+? people say it’s money grabbing etc but truthfully if it was that dangerous to wean from 4m, it certainly wouldn’t be allowed to be advertised like that on baby food etc surely xx
Companies want to make money that's why. The guidance is 6 months plus/when showing all signs of being ready as babies digestive system isn't ready for solids earlier and it can cause digestive issues later in life if done too soon
I was told that if baby is showing signs of readiness (able to sit unaided, can put hands to mouth and has an interest in food) then there’s no harm starting a little earlier. You know your baby best and I don’t see any harm if your little one is showing the readiness signs, even if it’s just a taste of a few things!
Unfortunately just because a is product available, doesn’t make it recommended or even safe. Take baby walkers for example, a very popular walking aid, sold in pretty much every baby shop. Multiple countries have called for a ban and Canada has actually banned the item as they are deemed unsafe. Many parents still use them so ultimately the decision to wean early is completely up to you. Just make sure you do your research so you can make an informed decision :)
@Melissa this is a great video, thank you for sharing. People shouldn't just do things because it's right "in their opinion", we have scientific medical advice for a reason and it's mad that people ignore it because it's "their baby and they can do what they want". I know everyone just wants the best for their child but it makes no sense that they would think that's anything other than following up to date medical advice
@Clare I think the Health Visitor in this video explains things really well and addresses a lot of the common misconceptions surrounding weaning. I’m not saying people should blindly believe a random stranger on the internet but hopefully it provides the impetus for some people to fact check and do some research of their own x
4 months is just the earliest they are allowed to advertise from, they would put from birth if they could 😂 It has been proven now that a baby’s digestive system isn’t ready until around 6 months although it can be started earlier under medical supervision for some health issues
